GREC member Dr Constantinos Balaras is again included for the sixth consecutive year in the 2023 updated list of top-cited scientists around the world based on the science-wide author databases of standardized citation indicators. The selection is based on the top 100,000 scientists by c-score – a composite indicator (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above in the sub-field. Career-long data are updated to end-of-2022 and single recent year data pertain to citations received during calendar year 2022. A total of 204,643 scientists are included in the career-long global database (of which 971 in Greece) and 210,198 scientists are included in the single recent year dataset (of which 926 in Greece), among 8,000,000 scientists worldwide.
